About Us
- Alternative Health and Healing is an extension of "La Source", a Holistic Health Institute created in 1988 in the Southwest of France.
- Alternative Health and Healing has two co-founders, Dr. Danielle Chavalarias and Marie-Laure Steffens, teachers and volunteers.
- Today Alternative Health and Healing Org. is an international team with English, French and Spanish speakers.
Dr. Danielle Chavalarias
Danielle studied linguistic in La Sorbonne, Université de Paris (1968-1971) and then studied Naturopathy (1979 -1982) at the École de naturopathie, recognized by the Rectorat de Paris, with Dr. P.V. Marchesseau, biologist, and founding father of Naturopathy in France. She became a Doctor in Naturopathy in 1982. Among the ten studied subjects, her favorite was psycho-trauma.
She co-created a publishing house called "Robert Dumas" in 1971 followed by "La MRC" in 1980. Both published texts relating to healing the Body, Mind and Spirit.
She owned and managed a Holistic Healing Center for 12 years. She has been conducting workshops, lectures, classes, and counseling in Europe, Africa, and America.
Danielle's passion is Astrology. She has been studying it from a scientific approach for over 35 years, examining it's holistic and spiritual aspects. Danielle uses Astrology as a valuable tool that facilitates the healing process. She works with doctors, surgeons, pharmacist, educators, social workers etc, as well as other astrologers.
Danielle assists adults who are in a transition period or in need of rejuvenating their life, improving their well-being, and are interested in an active transformation.
Danielle's clients feel great and enjoy their life, free of stress, and experience their changes with the capacity to keep their life balanced and harmonious.
Marie-Laure Steffens, Co-Founder, Director of Operation.
Marie-Laure has a Masters Degree in Sociology, specialized in Intercultural relationships.
She has been a volunteer for more than 10 years in international humanitarian organization.
Marie-Laure attended numerous holistic training classes.
She was part of the staff for several years at the Holistic Health Institute "La Source" in France.
She has been studying Western Wisdom Teachings since 1991.
Lana Schmidt, co-partner, Teacher-counselor.
Lana's passion for helping young adults navigate through life's dynamic and often rewarding challenges was developed throughout her eight years experience in public education.
As a high school English teacher, Lana has assisted many families through various areas of the parent-child relationship, including learning difficulties, academic pressures, identity issues, and soul knowledge.
With a B.A. in Literature and Writing from UC San Diego and member of UC Irvine Writing Institute Fellowship, Lana believes in rekindling a child's innate creative resources to deal with the daily rigors of day-day living.
She has been a student of art, literature, and philosophy for over 15 years and has intensively focused her studies in the Western Wisdom teachings for the past three years.
Virgilio Rodriguez, Teacher-counselor, Spanish-English.
Dr. Virgilio Rodriguez-Caamaño M.D graduated in his natal Dominican Republic with a Masters in Epidemiology, Public Health, and Business.
A teacher in the medicine department of the "Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo (UASD)", the oldest university in the Americas, founded in 1538.
He then received a Masters degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine in Anaheim, California, "South Bawulo University", one of the oldest, finest and largest Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine schools in the nation.
His medical training and experience brings to the team an integrated knowledge of the human being.
Since the beginning of his professional practice in 1987 he has been working with different non-profit organizations devoted to helping people in educational, health, and spiritual fields in his country and in California.
He is a practitioner of the Western Wisdom knowledge since 1977. He has as well practice tai-chi, qi-gong since 1993 and he is a Master in Reiki since 1998.
We, as a team, always have in mind to stay open to new discoveries, and are always ready to learn more.
These subjects are the primary interest of AHH staff. Putting them to practice in our own life is our passion. We are enjoying the journey. Come travel along!
